Yeah, not the Tupac song...though it is pretty sweet.

You've probably noticed that there hasn't been much going on with this site...or the Twitter...or the Facebook, really.

That's because I've been putting together some ideas, plans, and other things that are finally starting to come together.

This site won't actually exist much longer...because Bridgehead will be featured on a new website I'm putting together alongside some of my other works and, hopefully, the works of some other fantastic creators.

Keep an eye out for that. I'll probably make an announcement on this site, but definitely on the Facebook and Twitter, when these balls officially drop...

Kind of a "rude" analogy but you get what I mean.

Keep it real, kids.

Those of you whole follow Bridgehead on Facebook, Twitter, and deviantArt have a leg up on this wonderful news but, for those of you who don't, it looks as though we'll be moving forward with the series at last.

I spent a few weeks doing various artist searches on craigslist and deviantArt and a lot of people expressed interest this time around. I've had a bit of communication with one artist in particular and it looks like he's willing to do the lines for Splitting Seams this summer. I'm not applying any strict deadlines and things are going to be left up to his schedule. It's a bit frustrating because I won't exactly be able to have regular updates with this arrangement. However, it's not a paid project so whatever works him will work for me.

I've renewed the search on deviantArt but only for inks and colors. I'm browsing around for someone to do letters as well but, if it comes down to it, I'm working on lettering as well. I'd honestly like to be able to do the letters myself, but I'll have to get some feedback from some friends and associates who are more graphically skilled/talented before I jump all the way in that boat.

The most tedious part of that process is probably choosing fonts to suit the feel of the story. I know the style of lines that I'll be getting and I have an idea of the coloring style I'm looking for (at the very least I know the mood that should be conveyed), but the number of fonts out there is endless.

I've got it narrowed down to about 20 that I'm considering for various things, but I'll only be using 1 or 2 for Splitting Seams. It's only 13 pages and most of the text involved is in the form of captions.

All in all I'm very excited at these new possibilities and the fact that, after 5 brain melting years, I might be getting somewhere with this project.

Like I've been saying on Facebook and other places, I'm hoping for some follow through this time around. I understand that people have personal lives and this isn't a paying gig, but I'd be the happiest I could possibly be if Splitting Seams could finally be completed. The amount of gratitude I would feel and do my absolute best to show would be immeasurable.

Pending the completion of Splitting Seams, I'll be taking my second attempt at crowd-funding. In the meantime, wish me luck that all goes as well as I hope.

After months and months of being practically brain dead on this project, I'm finally back to writing.

I'm working on the untitled chapter again after re-thinking my approach to the story. A lot of what I wrote before had to be changed or removed. Frustrating, yes. Necessary, also yes. I do think I might have some title ideas this time around, but I'll hold off on that business. Either way, I'm confident that this chapter will turn out fantastic. It's proving to be one of my favorites in the story. If I can get the right mood and emotion to come across, I'm sure someone out there will agree.

New on the site today is the first of several character profiles that will, at some point or another, be added. Head over to the About - Characters page and take a look. You'll only see a single character with some standard details for now, but as things progress you'll see more characters added and full bios. You can expect the next character to be added, hopefully, in a couple of weeks.

The first set of characters (4 total) are part of a portrait series done by Hoshiko on deviantArt.com. If I'm lucky, she'll be open for commissions when I'm ready to start on the next set of character profiles (4 total). Only 8 will be getting a full bio (or close to it), but there will be other minor characters that receive profiles similar to the we've got going on right now.

I'm excited to be writing again and hopefully this time around I'll have a lot more to show for it. I already have more going on than the last time I tried a Kickstarter project. I'm confident that my next attempt will be more successful.

Deuces, kiddos.

Working on more character designs and trying to complete the untitled issue today. It's coming along quite nicely so far.

A fellow deviant on deviantArt got in touch with me today about, possibly, drawing Splitting Seams. If that works out well, there will be a lot more to see here on the website.

In the meantime, you should make sure you like the Bridgehead page on Facebook. A lot of artwork gets put there that won't be featured here on the site for a while.

I'm in the process of commissioning some new portraits on deviantArt so I can get some character profiles up this month. I'm hoping to have them up no later than the end of next week, but we'll have to wait and see how it goes.

It'll be so nice to finally have something shiny and new around here.

In other preparation related news, I'm trying to decide which I should go with when the time comes: Kickstarter or Indiegogo.

To be completely honest, I don't know what (if any) are the differences. So that's another project I'll be working on while I continue to rewrite book 7 of Bridgehead.

Sometime soon, I think I'm also going to start linking to some of the webcomics I like that fit into the action/adventure vibe that Bridgehead has. I can already think of a couple off the top of my head, but I'll wait a couple days before I put them up...that way I have some reason and motivation for writing another blog entry.

Ha! for cheating.

The main "About" page has been updated with a revised plot summary and a complete list of book titles for the series.

All books are complete except those titled "Untitled", On Your Mark, Reflections in Persephone, Vital Signs. I may still have to go back and edit/change things in some books. Play Things will probably be getting some revisions.

I'll probably be adding a couple of character profiles to the site in April or May and I'm really hoping to get my own bio up there eventually. I'm trying to drag a friend into writing it for me, but no luck yet. In the meantime, here's a funny:

My listings on craigslist and deviantArt have been turning out some responses; unfortunately, most of them haven't been remotely what I'm looking for. I've renewed them, though, and I'm sure someone will turn up eventually.

As a backup plan, I'm trying to get certain things in place to have $400-$500 set aside by late someone to pay someone for the shortest book in the series.

I'm hoping to have Splitting Seams (I'm taking off all the prologue shit; it's pointless) completed with art and covers, plus 2 variant posters and some concept sketches...before the end of this year. It sounds like a lot because...it kind of is. If I can get all of these things done, I'm going to (at least initially) release Splitting Seams as a web comic. I'll promote that for a few months and have a print version available for cheap.

After that, I'll have something to show when I do another Kickstarter project. I'll have a better video than the piece of shit I threw together last time and I'll make sure I have an artist on board and helping me with promotion and marketing.

Ideally, this will create enough awareness to get things funded for Innocence for Hire: Open to Corruption, with each previously completed book being used to promote the next Kickstarter project.

It sounds like a fantastic plan in my head and it sounds entirely doable...but we'll have to wait and see how it goes.

In other news!

I'm making some progress on the book I'm currently working on. The Silver City is getting downsized and will be combined with some other ideas I've been working on to create a brand new book in between Down for the Count and Play Things. I hope it turns out as exciting as it is for me to write it.

I'm also working on putting together some character profiles. There will only be two characters to start, and it will only cover basic information initially. Obviously as the story progresses more characters and details will be added.

Stay tuned, kids, and keep your fingers crossed that all of these plans of mine work out.

I realize I never actually announced that I was taking a break from writing, but I will announce that I'm back from that short break. My head is clear and I'm ready to dive back into completing this project.

You may notice that some of the pages still say "coming soon". The shop is incomplete because, obviously, there isn't yet anything for anyone to buy. As soon as I get the first book completed with art and covers, you'll be able to purchase it from various locations including this site. I'm going to try to have some merch made to accompany each of the books as they are completed.

The other two incomplete pages are the two about pages (author and characters). I hate writing about myself, so bio pages are nearly impossible for me to complete. Eventually there will be something there, but not for a while unless I can get a friend to write it for me.

The "Characters" page will be completed soon as well; I just haven't decided how soon before or after the release of book 1 I want to start putting up the character profiles. Go to the Bridgehead Facebook page and give me your suggestions. To post, or not to post.

The Bridgehead Pinterest account finally has a board with all Bridgehead art. Check it out for some previews of things soon to come on the website and in the story.

Also, I've done the unthinkable. I now have a Twitter account. @CMThomas689 is up and running with very little to see so far, and I'll admit that most of what I follow is Joss Whedon related...namely actors and creators responsible for Firefly and Dr. Horrible. I have a problem...I refuse to seek help. Follow me there and stay tuned for varying degrees of unnecessary updates on my writing progress.

That's all for now, my friends. I'm off to continue creating.

The artist search is underway once again. I've put an ad on craigslist and I'll be putting up a new ad on deviantArt this afternoon.

So far, I've received several responses from interested candidates. They all have promising work and seem both eager and motivated to make a start drawing comics but, unfortunately, I haven't seen anyone with the skills or style that I'm looking for.

A certain few of the artists who have contacted me were great at recreating the work of others, but didn't exhibit any handle on sequential art or personal style. Both are very important on a project like this and, aside from comprehension and professionalism, are the first things that I'm looking for.

Hopefully the search continues to go well and I'll be able to start having a couple of artists work with a script page or two.

More updates to come.

I've really been enjoying writing this new issue for Bridgehead. I went through the introductions of 3 different versions because I was so full of different ideas. Now I finally have something that's exciting me.

This issue will be shedding some light on the background of a character that gets fairly looked over throughout the series. I felt he deserved a little more respect, so I'm hoping this issue comes out well. I haven't been able to think of a title yet because I'm terrible at naming things. I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.

Here's a re-structured list of the series titles:

Prologue: Splitting Seams
Innocence for Hire: Open to Corruption
Three to Get Ready
In My Youth
Soul Salvation
Down for the Count
Untitled - so far
The Silver City
Play Things
On Your Mark
Reflections in Persephone
Where Dead Things Grow

Still looking for an artist. I keep coming across fantastically talented people with styles that I would like to see paired with my writing...but then it turns out they're a professional.

I'm still going strong and I'm staying positive. The hope that someone turns up soon is still firmly in place.
